BMW G Series Active cruise control (5DF)

This Active Cruise Control retrofit for BMW Gxx models provides a factory adaptive cruise upgrade using BMW’s radar-based MRR system. It enhances standard cruise control by introducing intelligent speed and distance management, significantly improving driving comfort and safety on long journeys and in traffic-heavy conditions.

Active Cruise Control operates through a front-mounted MRR (Medium/Long Range Radar) sensor that continuously monitors vehicles ahead. The system automatically accelerates and applies braking where required to maintain a safe, pre-selected following distance, reacting smoothly and progressively in real time. All functions are controlled using the original steering wheel buttons, with live system feedback displayed in the instrument cluster and Head-Up Display where fitted, matching OEM operation.

The retrofit includes full hardware integration where required, patched FSC activation, and complete vehicle coding to ensure seamless communication between all relevant control modules. Patched FSC activation allows the feature to operate without the need for BMW dealer subscriptions, while coding ensures correct system behaviour and fault-free operation with no warning messages.

Due to BMW’s electronic and safety architecture on G-series vehicles, this retrofit cannot be achieved through coding alone and requires the MRR radar sensor. Camera-only solutions are not supported on these models, making correct radar installation, calibration, and coding essential for reliable operation.

Active Cruise Control is one of the most desirable driver assistance upgrades available for G-series BMWs, reducing driver fatigue, improving motorway comfort, and enhancing overall driving refinement. Vehicle compatibility depends on the original factory specification, and a VIN check is required prior to installation to confirm suitability.
